Workspaces API overview

The Workspaces API enables developers to create, manage, and integrate Docusign Workspaces into their own applications to create structured, secure, and scalable agreement workflows. Workspaces provide a centralized environment where documents, participants, and envelopes come together to support complex, multi-step agreements.

With this API, developers can integrate workspace functionality into internal systems or customer solutions, assign roles and permissions, and streamline collaboration across agreement stages—all while maintaining real-time visibility, control, and security.

Create and manage Workspaces

Programmatically create workspaces to group documents, participants, and agreement steps into a single structured environment—enabling a more organized and trackable workflow.

Send tasks via Workspaces

Send one or more envelopes to the same or different set of recipients via a Workspaces API endpoint for sending envelopes. All the relevant envelopes (depending on the access) will be seen within the workspace for the users.

Upload and manage documents

Easily add, tag, retrieve, and organize documents within a workspace using REST API methods. Maintain control over the document lifecycle while keeping related files in one secure location.

Role-based access and permissions

Assign roles and control participant access through API. Ensure the right people can view, act on, or edit the appropriate documents—supporting collaboration and compliance in high-trust workflows.
